A Place for the Future St. Charles was founded before the Revolutionary War. Lewis and Clark began their journey in 1804 from the St. Charles area. Daniel Boone made his home in southwestern St. Charles County (see the photo at left). St. Charles itself was the site of Missouri's first capital. History comes alive in the Greater St. Charles Region! But while the people of the Greater St. Charles Region enjoy learning from history, they don't dwell on the past. St. Charles County is Missouri's fastest growing county, making it the hub of plenty of opportunities for families and for continued growth and expansion for business and industry.
The year 2004 will be the 200th anniversary of the beginning of Lewis and Clark's journey up the Missouri River. At left is the logo for the Missouri Lewis and Clark Bicentennial web site. The address is: http://www.lewisandclark.state.mo.us/ At the site you can view all the Lewis and Clark activities that will be taking place as the bicentennial draws near.
